We enjoy the hummingbirds in our gardens and yard all summer long, the most numerous are Anna’s hummingbird. They are very vocal little flying jewels. We no longer encourage them with feeders because of our cats but we encourage our neighbors to do so. They are amazing little creatures. We had one build a nest just outside our studio window one year and we got to watch the entire process from building to first flight. Most amazing! I am used to watching all kinds of birds thru their whole life cycle and was most impressed that the baby Hummingbirds never practiced with their wings. Young eagles spend hours flapping and jumping up and down on the sides of their nest. The hummingbird babies just sat quietly until one day they stood on the edge of their tiny silken cup and dove off! They were clumsy at first but within an hour were flying as well as the adults! $175.00
