Raven and Sun hand carved Sterling Silver Pendant

Raven and Sun hand carved Sterling Silver Pendant #403 By Owen Walker. The story of how Raven stole the sun, the moon, and the stars from the creator is well known in our part of the world and there are many variations of the theme so I will just give you a quick outline. Raven transformed himself into a spruce needle in the creators daughter’s water. She then gave birth to Raven as a baby boy with a long nose. He then made so much noise and fuss that the creator, the Grand Father, gave him the sun to play with. When he was in grandfather’s house the sun did not burn him, but was just a bright ball that he could play with. Grandfather was very careful with the sun and watched him pretty close, but as time went by and Raven fussed more he became careless. Raven waited until Grand Father was not looking then he transformed back into his real form of a great white bird, grabbed the great glowing ball in his beak. He jumped out the smoke hole of Grand Fathers house, and as he left the house the great glowing ball became VERY hot! Raven was badly burned but he managed to not only get the ball out of the house, but broke it into two pieces and many tiny fragments. These are now the Sun, the moon, and the stars. $175.00
